ARTIST RESIDENCY: RENE FRANCISCO RODRIGUEZ , January 24 - February 2
Rene Francisco Rodriguez is an internationally recognized, contemporary Cuban artist with a diverse body of work. Producing projects in a multitude of disciplines including installation, sculpture, video, painting, photography, and performance Rodriguez challenges boundaries between art and everyday life to explore personal and social contexts of artistic production. His work draws on creative traditions of institutional critique and collective involvement by artists such as Marcel Broodhaers, Hans Haacke and, in particular, Joseph Beuys. He will be working with VISA students in the Slide Room Gallery on a photo-based collaborative project in conjunction with the
Assume Nothing: New Social Practice exhibition at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.
